How to Add ActiveSync on an Android

The ActiveSync service is used by Microsoft to sync email, a calendar and contact information. Windows Live Mail supports ActiveSync through Exchange servers. Android devices running version 2.2 or later can access Exchange servers and use ActiveSync. You can set up the ActiveSync through the email application on your Android device. If you have a Windows Live Mail account, you can sync it with your Android device.

Instructions

1

Unlock your Android device and open the application launcher. Find the "Email" application and tap it.

2

Press the "Menu" button, then tap "Add Account." Type in your email address and password.

3

Tap "Manual Setup," then select "Exchange" for the type of account. Press the "\" key before your email address in the "Domain\Username" field. Type "m." before "hotmail.com" in the "Server" field. Tap "Next."

4

Select the frequency of checking and the amount of email to synchronize with your account using the drop-down menus. The default is for the email to be pushed to your Android device in real time and to hold three days of email on your device. Tap the boxes next to the other options to enable or disable them. When the check is green the option is enabled. Tap "Next."

5

Type a name for your account, then press "Finish."
