How to Connect Samsung Instinct to Lotus Notes

The Samsung Instinct can access mail servers like Lotus Notes and Outlook Express. The Instinct must be configured to access such programs with a sync manager. The sync manager must be installed and running on a computer that has access to your Lotus Notes account. As of 2010, the Samsung Instinct was just available for Sprint users. Sprint provides the Sprint Sync Manager that allows Instinct users to sync their Lotus Notes accounts with the Instinct.

Configure Sync Manager

Turn on the Samsung Instinct. Hit the "Home" button.

Tap "Main" and select "Settings." Tap "Bluetooth." Drag the Bluetooth slider to the "On" position.

Install the desktop sync software. If you are setting up a Samsung Sync on the Sprint network, insert the installation CD that came with the Samsung Instinct into the optical drive on the computer, or download the installation file from Sprint's website. Click the Install option and follow the on-screen instructions to install the sync software.

Open the desktop sync software. For example, to start Sprint Desktop Sync, select "Sprint Desktop Sync" from the All Programs folder in the desktop Start menu, or double-click on the desktop icon.

Enter your user name and password when it prompts you, or create a new profile. When you create a profile, the software will search for the Bluetooth-enabled Instinct and pair with it.

Select "Lotus Notes" from email options. If you are using Sprint Sync Manager, select this option within the "E-mail Content Manager" drop-down list in the software interface.

Select the option to configure Lotus Notes with your Samsung Instinct and select a sync option to transfer contact information. For example, in Sprint Desktop Sync, select "Synchronize changes both ways." Any changes to Lotus Notes upload automatically to the Instinct.

Select a synchronization schedule when the sync software prompts you. Select the option to finish the setup when it's done.

Sync the Lotus Notes content. In Sprint Desktop Sync, you will select "Synchronize" in the main menu.

Access Lotus Notes

Press the "Home" button and touch "Main" on the Samsung Instinct phone.

Click "E-mail" and select the "Lotus Notes" account on the phone.

Scroll up and down the screen to find a message you want to upload. Touch an message to open it.
